The house
A Barnet studio with a Mediterranean pantry.
The company was incorporated on 16 August 2019 as a private limited company in England and Wales. The registered office is Woodgate Studios, 2–8 Games Road, Barnet EN4 9HN. From that studio we buy, sell and advise. The name is Italian because the table we care about is Italian, Greek, Levantine and Spanish — green in the sense of leaf, oil and the first colour of a market in the morning.
Why the food and the advice live together
A chef can buy extraordinary anchovies and still fail if the menu, the supplier calendar and the cash cycle are not speaking to each other. Gruppo Verde therefore does two things that look separate on a Companies House extract and feel like one job in the kitchen.
On the trade side we wholesale other foods, including fish, crustaceans and molluscs, and we sell goods that do not sit on a high-street shelf. On the advisory side we offer management, sales, marketing and financial consultancy to hospitality and specialist retail.
Clients who only want crates can have crates. Clients who only want a sounding board can have a sounding board. The work is better when the same people have seen both the invoice and the pass.
What “verde” means in practice
It means we prefer produce that still has a harvest date. It means we will tell a buyer to wait two weeks rather than take a pale tomato in March. It means the consultancy is allergic to growth plans that ignore seasonality, waste and the real cost of a cover.
It also means the studio keeps a tasting table. Buyers, chefs and new operators sit down with oil, bread, citrus and a notebook. Decisions are made with food in the mouth, not only with a spreadsheet.
